Chat with Mehmed the Conquerer!

Today we are going to talk about using AI tools. 

This week we were assigned to chat with a historical figure, author, or story character by using an AI tool named Magic School. After the chat we were supposed to make a report of the interview and get feedback using the Magic School's Writing Feedback Tool. Lastly, we were supposed to revise our report based on the feedback. We could work on this task alone or with a pair. We worked as a pair with my friend Nisa, you can click here here if you want to check her blog. We wanted to make an interview with Fatih Sultan Mehmed and ask him some questions about the conquest of Constantinople.


To chat with Mehmed the conquerer the AI tool we used was Magic School. It has lots of functions such as making a lesson plan, differentiating, writing assessments, communicating with characters and much more. It is also useful for both teachers and students. It was an interesting experience using its character tool. I would never thought one day I would be able to chat with Fatih Sultan Mehmed, even though it was not a real conversation. 😔 But using the tool was also challenging because at first we couldn't find the section we were supposed to use, the page was a little complicated and the answers it gave to our questions were unnecessarily too long. 

As a student using AI tools are actually very helpful. For example, it helps us with our homeworks and we can ask questions to them if we need help and do not have anyone to ask our questions personally. But we should use them efficiently not unnecessarily. They can also decrease student performance because of their excessive use such as using them to make the whole homework. So they have pros and cons. 

As a teacher candidate, I think using AI tools for teaching have many useful functions. They help for grading, finding and creating relevant tasks and they also help to save time. Teachers can use educational games and apps that can make learning more effective and fun. But sometimes it can give false information, so we should be careful and always search the informations reliability. 

These were my thoughts and experiences on AI tools.

Hello, my dear readers!💖 It is sad to tell you this but this will be my last post in this blog.  Since this post is my final post for my Instructional Technologies in Material Design course I want to talk about this course and what I did in this course. So, let's look at what I have done so far.  Before taking this course I actually had almost no idea about the integration of technology in English language teaching. I've learned many web pages, AI tools, educational apps and so much more to use in my future assignments and classes when I became a teacher. I also learned that all these tools have both good and bad sides.       Hello, my dear readers! 💖   It is nice to see you all again after a short break. 😊 Today we are going to talk about digital storytelling. What is it? Digital storytelling is a way of telling story which combines the art of storytelling with multimedia features such as photography, text, audio, voiceover, hypertext and video. Digital tools and software make it easy and convenient to create a digital story. This week, we were assigned to create a digital story for our Instructional Technologies and Material Design course.
