Sshh! Storytelling...

     Hello, my dear readers!💖

It is nice to see you all again after a short break. 😊

Today we are going to talk about digital storytelling.

What is it?

Digital storytelling is a way of telling story which combines the art of storytelling with multimedia features such as photography, text, audio, voiceover, hypertext and video. Digital tools and software make it easy and convenient to create a digital story.

This week, we were assigned to create a digital story for our Instructional Technologies and Material Design course. Our teacher gave us three options and we picked the fictional story among them. It was a pair work so we collaborated with my close friend Nisa Elmas. She also has a blog, if you are interested,  you can visit her blog by clicking here clicking here.

 Let's talk about my experiences.

We chose fictional story because we thought that it would be fun to create our brand-new story and make a digital story out of it. Then, after a short brainstorming, we decided on a topic for our story. We wanted a little bit of irony in it. The story is about a pop star who doesn't care much about the environment but she changes her attitudes towards it at the end of the story.

To create our digital story, we used Pixton which is a great tool that enabled us to create our story easily and has many appealing and qualified designs. Nevertheless, we had to screenshot our created images since Pixton is a tool that demands money. 😔

Actually, while creating the story we had a hard time adjusting the video and timing of the voice. The tool that we used for adjusting, wasn't a great one. Also, little details such as changing the characters' body movements in each scene, challenged us too.

Since it boosts students' creativity and speaking abilities and gives them opportunity to share their ideas freely, I will definitely use this kind of assignment when I become a teacher.

 That was all for today.

 I hope you enjoy reading!

 xoxo, Yağmur
